I came across this neat video on you-tube

You Gotta Go to B&H! (-their actual slogan)

Of course being that I am from Metropolitan New York I've NEVER actually been there!

    Empire State Building?...once!

The Meltzer Closet o' Film?...also once!

(I order online from B&H like everybody, everywhere.)

I think the young lady will find that shooting super-8 is a little bit of an art: every cartridge gets a little better.

i don't know about the US but as I understand it there is nowhere in Europe that can develop Kodachrome Super 8 anymore. I'm told that it can be developed, but only in B/W. A great pity if that's true, because Kodachrome colour holds its colour for many decades. I've still got quite a few unused cartridges but I wouldn't want to waste colour film to produce inferior B/W images.

        Terry,

The very last Kodachrome processed anywhere was done by Dwayne's photo in Parsons, Kansas 10 years ago next December. I'll always remember this because some of it was mine, and it came uncomfortably close to not making it! A couple of days before the deadline, right around the last days to ship it, there was an immense snowstorm here in the Northeast and UPS, Fed-Ex and USPS were all knocked off their feet.

Truth be told: the afternoon of the 30th, Dwayne's was jammed to the rafters with unprocessed film, and processing went on for weeks afterwards. I've never been clear on which ran out first: the customer's film or the Kodak chemicals that Dwayne's had the very last ever made.

Ektachrome deserves more credit than it gets: my Ektachromes from the 1970s still look great, and Kodak E100 looks really nice on screen.

I've read that once Ektachrome was processed in E6 chemistry it's color dyes became more stable. That being said modern Ektachrome should last many years and even decades before the colors shift. I began using Ektachrome around 2006 after Kodachrome was discontinued. My movies from that time, shot on 64T, still look good. Of course the biggest factor is how these films are stored. I agree with Steve the new 100D Super 8 looks fantastic projected. Even on a cloudy day the colors are still very warm.

I'm very pleased with the new Ektachrome (but not with its priceā€¦).I shot several rolls (in 9.5, reperfored from 16 mm) and the results are good.

              I agree, Dominique,

I have a small stash of 100D I bought at the old price which I want to use wisely.

15 years ago I was buying K40 with processing for $13.50 a roll.

65 Bucks a roll without processing is kind of a deal breaker!

I buy my Ektachrome from this seller on eBay. He's sells it for $48.98 with free shipping. I agree the price is high. My understanding is the cost for Kodak to make this film is expensive, so they pass it on to the consumer. I get my films processed at Spectra Film & Video in Ca. I only shoot a couple rolls a year. The seller on eBay has sold almost 300 cartridges so people are using this new reversal film.
