  • Bell & Howell 253B (1950)

Hello Everyone, my name is Andres. Was born is Florida, but I live in Chile now, South America.

I found my granfathers old Bell & Howell 253B.

I got the motor moving, but I cant seem to have the film go from one reel to the other.

My projector has a spring system for forward and reverse (engage manually one or the other)

I think Im loading the film correctly, but I dont thik the motor has enought streght to move the film.

    Any thoughts?

Are the teeth on the projector thread sprocket, supposed to go in the holes o the films? It seems the holes are too small?

Hi Andres and welcome. I think you have discovered the problem yourself. The B&H 253 is a standard 8mm projector only. The film you have with the smaller holes is super 8mm. Super 8mm film will not run on your machine.

Andres ... Yes you can't use that projector for your films...but there are a lot of Super 8 projectors and some dual format machines available...
