  • Noris 342 100w vs Elmo ST1200 150W

    Have you experiense with both?
    Noris 342 100w and Elmo ST1200 150W
Elmo isn' t as much lightefficient as Bauer and Noris, so I believe that a Bauer T610 (150W) gives around 1,5 times the brightness of a Noris 342 (100W).
But will the Noris come close to the Elmo ST1200D I have?

It's a very difficult question to answer without having all 3 machines. One thing I can say is that on the ST1200 you can dispense with the heat filter that's on the front of the lamphouse cover. That was a bit of overkill and of course on the GS1200 and other machines Elmo didn't use a heat filter in that position.
The Noris machines are very light efficient as they have a very fast claw pull down so the shutter blades can have a wider opening so yes a Noris may come quite close to an ST1200. Personally I wouldn't buy a Noris unless I knew its history and could check it out first for steadiness because the one downside of the very fast claw pull down is wear in the claw cam and the Noris machines are known for this with heavy use.
I would think the Bauer and Elmo are fairly similar but having never had my hands on a Bauer I can't say.

I think the ST1200 and Bauer about the same for light output, from memory. I dont still have both, just the Bauer.
The Noris has the problem Kevin has mentioned. The one I had could be unsteady on some prints.Shame, because otherwise very nice.

I once had a Noris 342 for a short time. As I recall, the main control knob had a strange method of operating the lamp. But, for looks, perhaps it was unbeatable.

The rear sprong plate on the lamp side for the one time focussing is what interrest me the most.
i have my projectors standing in the back and when the movie is ready, I'm going to sit in the front row.
          i'm my own public.
Many times I have to go back for focussing better, or I think I need.
Noris, Braun or Beaulieu projectors don't have that issue, cause it's a one time focus.

So I like to replace my projector with a Braun, Noris and a LPU, or a Beaulieu.
Only the amount of years and lack of service posebility throws a spanner in the works.

Yes great for mixed thickness stock on one reel. My Norisound 412 has troubel with the auto threading, unfortunately.
