  • 400w HTI conversion

Hi, I'm looking for to upgrade a projector to a HTL light source. I decided to start with my Eiki Nt-2 16mm projector for my first shot at it because it's easier to maneuver than my Elmo GS 800 I bought an Osram 400w/24 HTI bulb, like the Bauer p8 T400 uses, but I'm having trouble with selecting a ballast. Ideally, I'd like to build an electronic power supply. I have the elementary electrical experience, plus i know an electrical engineer who has experience with high voltage lights (though he knows nothing about film projectors) Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm not a technical person but have you seen this guide to metal halide lamps?

        I couldn't find it myself.
But, try this one. It all sounds a bit technical, but there may be something of interest.

I managed to find a ballast and ignitor from a spotlight that uses the same bulb. New old stock too. Click image for larger version

                  Well done, Robert,
I assume that the two parts shown are, in fact, all as one.

That's one big ballast. I'm keen to see how you get on with this Robert. Keep us posted with some pics.
