  • More ELMO repair fun ...

I write this as it might help someone else out with ELMOs.

I have an ELMO GS1200 mg ans optical sound. Recently, I started getting a very nasty scruffing sound. I thought that it might be gears, pulleys or motors rubbing the wrong way or getting dry. I bought some good lube, lubed yp the whole projector, and was still getting that scraping sound. I looked at the front of the projector, at the lamp, and noticed that curious "cover" that goes between the lamp and the shutter, and noticed that when you turn to project a film, this lifts up and allows the full power of the lamp to shine thru.

Sure enough that lamp cover, when it went up out of the way, was ever so slightly rubbing against some moving parts, hence the scraping. It turns out that the screw that holds this whole piece up, was very loose. I got out some of my mini screwdrivers and was able to tighten that up and viola! The scraping was gone and I was back to a very smooth, quiet sounding ELMO again.
