    Yes,

Often the difference between a parts machine and a potential runner is do the audio and/or transport mechanisms operate! (-and if they don't, how bad are they?)

There should be plenty of second-rate sound prints on E-bay that would make good sacrificial test films.

Tried it this afternoon without a film. Everything seems to be turning as it should and very smooth and quiet. Hopefully all working.

The rear sprocket lever is supposed to move up and down so as to remove the sprocket to change from super 8 to standard 8. Once moved back up it should stay in position with friction.Does yours have the push on super 8 sprockets fitted or are they missing, the standard 8 sprockets are permanently attached on the 824.Also does it have both film gates ?.

          Hi Jason,
The rear sprocket lever does move out of the way and stays in position when moved back. Yes, I have the Super 8 sprockets and both film gates.

            Hi,

Just to conclude this post, I ran one of the skip films through the projector today and it worked perfectly. A big thanks to everyone who provided help.
