Hello all, I am hoping there is someone stateside who is component level that can help repair my Fumeo S8 projector. The audio board keeps blowing a capacitor. Thanks in advance.

Hi Alan,
There's only a couple of things that can repeatedly blow a capacitor. One is the voltage across it is too high (dielectric breakdown), and another is the ripple current through it is too high (overheating). The other thing is that for an electrolytic capacitor the polarity of the voltage across it is backwards from what it should be.

Steve, the cap blew out a stream of steam or smoke then the smell,of burning. I replaced it with a new cap of the same spec. Upon powering on the projector for a test run, when i turned on the audio I noticed the audio sounded static then the replacement cap blew up.Comment

What is the history of the machine prior to the incident?
Had it been running faultlessly for a long time or did something change pre-kaboom? Is it an old friend or just arrived?
Do you have a manufacturer and part number for the failed part?Comment
