I inherited dad's old projector Eumig Mark 501 and old films. Problem is that there is something wrong with the projector and I can't figure it out. Lamp works fine and the engine seems to be running/turning as I opened it but it won't roll the film ( won't even take it in). See the attached pics. I wonder if it misses some "drive belt" somewhere.....or something? Any info appreciated, thank you!

Yes no drive belt in situ.
The good news is the pulleys look very clean.
Also remember for 50 hertz [ cycles ] place the drive belt on the REAR pulley, the front pulley is for 60 hertz.
Plenty out on ebay, the original profile was vee, currently replaced by O profile, these work just as good.

Hello ARI
Firstly belt on wrong pulley, needs to be on the other set [ I understand you are on 230v 50cycles supply in Finland]. There is only one rubber drive belt.
If this does not improve things post picture of mechanism at front of machine.
Afterthought if you turn the front arm spindle with your fingers is it free or stiff?

Hi Tom, thank you for your answer. It finally started rewinding. Maybe it was jus a bit "rusty" after not being used in 20-30 years or so...Yes I am in Finland, so I will change the belt on the correct pulley. However it seems to work fine, but can you expain easily what's the difference as I don't understand anything about these 50 cycles.... :-)
This is a brilliant forum, thank you everyone !

Hello ARI,
Good to hear your machine seems to be working. Seized arms [especially front] are common, the grease/lubricant hardens with age, but not to worry, running on what we call a "soak" test, ie without a film, for approx 20 mins will bring it back. But keep watching in case it sounds as if it starting to bind or seize.
Do you have instruction leaflet? This shows the correct pulley positions. If not P.M. me and I can email [english or german or both]
As to cycles or hertz, just google ELECTRICAL HERTZ, but basicaly you need to match the mains supply to the projector to obtain the correct running speed.
