  • GS1200 : BA6301 "GOVERNOR BOARD" Project !

    Hello GS1200 Fans,

First of all, special thanks for Bill Parson and J-C (From French Forum "Le Transfert De Pellicule") who supplied me with very valuable informations to allow me to achive quietly this project.

Here is the NEW BOARD installed in a GS1200 :

New Board is based on BA6301 I/C which is easier to find on components market. Connectors are common MOLEX 3.96 Plugs , very easy to find .(Original Board To Board MOLEX Connectors are not easier to find at a good price and often time stock is depleted).

Card used is Epoxy FR4 material (Fiber reinforced) , dual tracks.
Both Trim Pots are 10K fine adjustment to allow a precise speed setting.

An other view of the card :

The new card has worked fine at first Test , for 18 and 24 Fps as well.

The new card is Directly Interchangeable with former ones.
As necessary, New card is easy to repair, BA6301 I/C is just clipped on !!

The "ESS Mode" has not been tested yet , this will come soon..........

    Happy Christmas to All

      I don’t have a GS1200 and I still think this is great!

It’s the kind of thing that needs to happen to keep this hobby going!

During miscellaneous Tests performed, I take this oportunity to report what I observed for the GS1200 :

Available Speed Range in 24 Fps mode ==> From 21,52 Fps to 27,40 Fps
Available Speed Range in 18 Fps mode ==> From 16,57 Fps to 19,87 Fps

Nominal "Still" Speed : 6,91 Fps (Can be adjusted)

            Nominal (24 or 18) Speeds Fluctuation observed : +/- 0,04 Fps

Speeds were recorded with I/R sensor fitted on shutter blades.

            To be continued....................

This is a very good Option for the GS 1200. Some Years ago I copied this Board with the BA6301 too.

                Hello,

I am still working on this project :

Here are some videos concerning Board testing , 24 and 18 Fps, ......... Very steady Speeds (New board is installed in a GS1200 PCOM for these tests)!!
Observe Mini / Maxi speed fluctuation is .........0,04 Fps for Nominal 24.

                24 FPS

                18FPS

As projector was running (for 24 or 18fps as well) , I applied a good pressure on Main motor shaft (with 2 fingers) , attempting to break down speed and the board immediatly compensated.....

Tests were realized with a Special Low Speeds "Frequencemeter" which has been designed (by J-C Griny ; French Forum) for films projectors (Range from 1 to 100 Fps, so 1Hz to 100Hz).
Accuracy is 2 numbers after dot !!

New Test in ESS Mode at 25Fps, same machine. Synchro Box on left side of Lap Top has been designed by Leon (French Forum) .

                  Very limited fluctuation : 25 +/- 0,02 Fps

                  25Fps / ESS Mode

                    hello ,

I am happy to introduce you PCB BA6301V3
Cards I released before were good ...............but V3 PCB is much better :

Many upgrades for a top notch result. ............... Plus something new which I'll introduce later .
Card shown is a V3 test card , fully workable, but not complete)
Project V3 is the last one , there is no more upgrade planned.

All improvement will be detailed in a few weeks......

                    See you soon.
