  • Film 'stuck' in my Eumig Mark 501

    Hi all;

    Thanks for the add.

    I just picked uo a working Eumig mark 501 & have run a few reels through it with no problem. However, tonight as I was watching a real, the real stopped automatically feeding the take up reel & I heard that dreaded 'tic, tic, tic, tic, sound where I 'think' the reel is stuck & I assume the gears are eating through the square feeder holes.
    On top of that, I can't get it to rewind properly either. the front reel starts pinning madly & spitting the film out the front while the take up reel doesn't move.

    HELP!!!!!!

    & Thank you!

    If you take the side cover off (undo the screw you can see) and open the gate fully, as when cleaning, you can remove the film easily as it is a sproketleass machine. There is a spring that you have to manouver the lens/gate to get it open fully.

        There is also a pull off cover over the top entry slot sring finger I forgot on the original post. You need to take that off to clean the chanel so you may have known about it. It's been a while since I used my Mk 501.

          Thanks Mark;

          I'm now on the hunt for a new take up reel as mine's warped & the film doesn't feed in properly...☹

            Dont forget as i found out last year when i bought a beaulie projector to test it with a film that isnt expensive, this projector chewed up the start of an expensive feature so i would test the projector you bought with an old film of some sort good luck

              Thankfully there is very little in a Mk 501 to chew up film as it is a sproketless design, only the claw can really do damage though mine had a tendancy to scratch on one side.

                You have to cut the leader with the Beaulieu cutter to avoid impropre loading.
