Official Films ... A history?

Along with Castle Films, Official Films was one of the earliest commercial standard 8mm home movie supplier, but while I know a good deal about Castle Films, I know literally nothing about Official Films. Can anybody fill us in? My first thought is our own Shorty, but there may be a lit of good sources for info out there.

The history of Official Films is much more obscure than Castle’s. I’m planning to write an article on this very subject for an upcoming issue of “The Reel Image” magazine. A comparison if Official vs. Castle in the early 1950s. Look for it soon.

I look forward to it. From the prints that I have run across, it appears that Official Films didn't have the same level of quality. Perhaps it was the film labs they used?
