  • CineSea 28 update - Thursday Night Theme is set & Friday Night Feature choices are in

Our 28th gathering of film collectors is coming up very soon (April 18 - April 21) in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey.
For details, please go to the CineSea website.

    The Thursday Night Theme

CineSea officially starts with the Thursday Night Theme, which concentrates on short films of a particular genre. Our theme for #28 will be…..Music! This genre gives us a wide variety of options to choose our films from: musicians performing, cartoons and shorts that rely on music instead of dialogue, treasured numbers from musicals, classic (and classical) scores, musical interludes, even music & songs played during the opening credits. Anyone have the first reel of The Green Slime? Please bring your favorites (with a run time of 25 minutes or less). There will definitely be dancing in the aisles, so we’ll have to get some aisles.

    Friday Double Feature

Reel to reel combat has started! The submissions for our Friday Night/Matinee Features are in. Attendees choose which print they'd like to share for the Friday screenings, which will take place on April 19.

    GHIDRAH, THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER – 1965 (16mm Flat, LPP)

    Saturday Part One: Dealer Day!

The Saturday show starts at 10 AM and many, many projectors will be running non-stop and many, many films will trade hands right up to the dinner break. Interested in a table? Please see the CineSea website for details.

    Saturday Part Two: Evening Screenings

After the dinner break, we start the incredible Saturday night screening, where people bring films that they'd like to share (with a running time of 20 minutes or less) in Standard 8, Super 8, 16mm or 35mm. It always happens that there will be prints shown that I've never seen or heard of!

Created by John Black & Shorty Caruso, the purpose behind CineSea is to keep this hobby going by giving the collector an affordable show in an affordable location. Admission is free! Here's a look at the fun from CineSea 27.

The choice of features for Friday night is really great!

The one regret I often have here is the ones that don't make the cut: I always hope that whoever owns them is persistent and tries again next time. (This often pays off: I remember The Pink Panther being on the ballot easily four times before it got on screen. I voted for it every time, too!)

The upside of this is the idea that among the bunch of us, we are nowhere near close to running out of films to watch!

It's been a very long time since I've seen either of these. This is a good way to get reacquainted!

        I'm up for it!

True Story: Classic though it is, I've never seen the Disney Pinocchio in it's entirety. I've seen extracts from it. I've seen it as a play. I seem to remember it as a book when I was a grade school age, but now I finally get to really see it. (-at the time of life I'm pondering retirement)

That's the nice thing about Friday night: it's very often the chance to experience a classic film the way it was meant to be seen.

PS: I voted for Ghost and Mr. Chicken. I remember enjoying it on TV when I was a little kid! I wanted to see it, but never thought it would land on top!

As you all descend on Wildwood from all corners of the States this week, please remember that there are a lot of us here in the UK and the rest of the world that will be with you in spirit over the weekend but, sadly not in body.

          Have a great time !

            Melvin,

Thank you! It's now time to for me to make a new list of film, equipment & accessories to bring, as it can be a problem after driving 180 miles to discover that I've left something important at home!

                    Thank you, Eivind!

We had a great dinner last night with the early bird arrivals and then had an impromptu screening of little seen Columbia comedy shorts from the 1950s. After breakfast today we'll start setting up the room.
