  • “The Little Whirlwind” from ultra8.es

Just one word: WOW! I never knew Super 8mm could look so good! Brilliant color and sharp focus. The audio was also bright and clear. Much more so than my old film prints from the 1970’s and 1980’s. I know some of that is because of the digital remastering, but, still…WOW! My Elmo ST100 happily agreed with the polyester film base, so no problem in that regard. The film ran flawlessly.

I have absolutely no complaints. If the quality of this print is indicative of future prints from Ultra8, I will most certainly purchase another film from them. Speaking of which, I’m anxiously waiting for the day when I can pre-order the 1980’s music video reel. My all-time favorite is Take On Me, but I like the others as well. So excited!

    Well done! Thank you Ruben!

    Dave...
You beat me by hours when it came to posting a review of Ultra8's release of the Little Whirlwind.
But you wrote precisely what I would have posted!
100% thrilled with this beautiful short!
Anxiously awaiting for the Drop of Water reel, Donald/Looney Tunes Scope reel and I'll certainly be one of the first to pre-order the Alice feature!
    No question!
    Thanks Ruben!

It truly is an amazing print. So pleased we can have prints of this quality. The sound is great too.

So thankful for all the positive reviews. The upcoming titles look as good or even better that “The Little Whirlwind”. Regarding “Take on me” it is a special case: it comes from an original 35mm print in very good condition. The 35mm version is different to the MTV music video: has a different audio mix with bombastic Dolby Stereo sound, a nicer and richer color grade (with the added definition upgrade of 35mm film) and has a few alternate shots that were replaced for the MTV version. I’m sure you will love it!

Great to read these positive reviews, I will definitely order some future titles.

Ruben just curious as to whether there were any faulty prints? I'm just asking as many who have recent Andec prints know there always seems to be some with lab faults (lines). Not everything they do seems to be perfect. Your quality control is excellent BTW and well done for that and look forward to ordering in the future.

Actually there were not faulty prints, none. We check each and every one prior to shipping so collectors don’t get any surprises (only good ones!).

Thanks Ruben that's good to hear . I realise no faulty prints would have been sent to customers I just wondered if the lab sent any and these were replaced etc. Hopefully the lab has fixed any problems. Thanks for what you have done for the Super 8 collector .

Hi Graham! Yes, lab did not sent any faulty prints of “The Little Whirlwind”. We’re now preparing “The Drop of Water” and the Cineavision Double Bill (Disney/Warner).
