  • ADS & DANIEL CRAIG REEL

Now this is going to be a very popular new reel for any collector..

This is a very good reel indeed which has around 13 adverts from around 10 years or so will be a first on 8 most certainly. The ads cover a lovely mix of products including holidays in the sun, soft drinks food etc etc. A couple of the nicest ones are the 007 style bread advert and the wonderful visit to Blackpool pleasure beach and we get to hop onto the legendary roller coaster with some nice views from above closing with Rank advertising. Next up is the fun Hopper Spoof always a popular one that followed by Our Next Presentation a dayset I rescued from my local ABC projection box during part demolition as a young boy a sad time but great to see it on the screen once again. Precious memories..
Two wartime trailers follow THE TRENCH set in WW1 also featuring a vintage hand cranked 35mm movie camera then NEXT WEEK AFTERNOONS ONLY dayset. The DEFIANCE trl film is set in WW2 and together this completes a great variety reel.

Doing a close up visual inspection of the film the magnetic sound stripe has been applied with great skill and really accurate looking through a glass. The print itself is very clear with a nice colour pallet when projected.
    Print A Stereo sound A

Thank you The Reel Image for this very special import and to see those old ABC datsets again on the screen made my day!

Love to see some screenshots if possible, as I am sure that you want to see it promoted, for better sales.

Reel Image site is a chaotic mess where you can find nothing. If it’s too much effort not to worry. I will post link to Reel Image site and if anyone is interested they can email Steve for details.

Patience enables us to analyze things and situations beyond their face value. The resourcefulness, calm, and empathetic behavior and self-control of patient people can make them very popular. It also gives them inner peace and the ability to keep smiling despite challenges.

Lee, those screenshots are pretty good. It's too bad it's not one I will collect, but good quality, to be sure.

Mike, I too find the reel image website difficult to negotiate. It is very beautiful to behold but I cannot ever find what I am looking for.

Phil It is like the proverbial “Alice in Wonderland” wormhole. Least there is email. In the olden days it was midnight / early morning calls with the dread of what the international rate was going to cost.

There is no information about new releases on the The Reel Image website for a reason. The Reel Image only sells film and equipment through a list that subscribers receive as part of their subscription to the magazine. This was announced over two years ago. Considering that a subscription comes to less than 23 dollars a year, it's certainly worth it. Not only do you get the film and equipment lists, you get an informative and very enjoyable magazine!

Information about subscribing can be found on the website.

I didn’t actually know that Doug. Can see that being a well oiled success. Who thought up that a business plan Kim Fung-un?

It effectively closes the hobby to anyone outside the circle so once the old codgers pop their clogs that will be it game over. Buying film now is like dealing with the elusive “Pimpernel”or the “Mad Bomber” 🥴from the Inspector Clouseau cartoons.

Glad I collected through the glory days of super 8 bought anything worth buying and can run digital in tandem with them so much more fun than getting out of my warm bed going to a forest in Ohio at 2:00am to meet some strange men 🤑who smell of thermofim.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mike it's kept off the website for a reason. Keeping it this way allows it to continue for as long as possible. Back in the olden days of Derann they had rights granted so they could advertise them easily, today it's different. It's only a niche market anyway now with new releases and most collectors will eventually find out about them .

I know that Graham but it so cloak and dagger. I would say the small reel releases would be fine and anything second hand it is the features that could be the issue. I just wonder how many potential collectors they are missing out on reaching. I have come across numerous people who were not aware of Derann until a chance conversation and became customers.
