  • Tomorrow Never Dies (Opening Sequence)

The opening sequences from many of the James Bond films seem tailor-made for a Super 8mm release. They are action filled, self contained mini movies in themselves, and they fit on a 400’ reel!

With the locator title identifying “A Terrorist Arms Bazaar on the Russian Border” (this being a German import, this and the main title are in German), Bond is sending back images to MI6 of numerous arms dealings. The Military orders Bond to leave and a cruise missile is launched to “take out half the world’s terrorists”. It is then that Bond sees nuclear torpedoes mounted on a fighter jet. If the missile strikes those “it will make Chernobyl look like picnic”.

The order to abort is given, however the missile is out of range and quickly heading towards its target. Bond fights his way to the jet. He jumps into the cockpit and takes off. He then has to deal with fighters in pursuit, the incoming missile and a very nasty co-pilot.

The complete title sequence follows with the title song performed by Sheryl Crow.

This enjoyable excerpt is a sharp scope print with a very good stereo soundtrack. I feel the whites in the outdoor scenes have a slight bluish tint however the flesh tones look fine. The United Artists logo in the beginning has a negative mark at the top center of frame but this disappears before the famous gun barrel opening begins.

    Running time - 12:30
    Price - $128

What a great review! Thank You.
The opening sequence of DIE ANOTHER DAY is also on the bluish side.

Its been a great time for all of us who buy new S8 films these are excellent make no mistake!

I also love the Goldeneye one which goes really well with the Tina Turner promo reel for the film. Should also praise the excellent magnetic striping we now have and perfect Stereo sound. This is a new dawn to my eyes and ears.
        Well done Reel Image.

The REEL blessing along with great releases from beloved USA is the great Alberto's superb magnetic sound striping service. His paste stripe applicating is the best I have recorded to in over 20 years. Thank you SO and Alberto.
Always been a fan of Mr Brosnan as Bond and a top job SO.

I'm really hoping we see the title sequence from Casino Royal it is one of the best, for me anyway.

            TND in UK money £101

Is Alberto now striping all the prints from Germany? If so, is he by any chance doing the recording too? In view of the high quality of his work, it would be great if he added a printer to his services, as no doubt he wold do this well too, and it would cut costs considerably if printing, striping and recording all happened in the same country/location.

I had his striping under a microscope when it landed on my first batch of 50 odd years home movies it's as good as Kodak anyday.
The great Alberto does a pre wash before striping to pretty much guarantee the stripe sticks. When was the last time we had that available to us in the uk.
He's done many of my older home movies, some silent commercial films and local student work all good on numerous film stocks.
Best to send in a 1600ft spool with no more than 1500 to 1550ft max to allow a bit of swell.
A totally professional service and I am fussy.

If you are sending in films with tape joins use a cir splicer but do splices that cover several frames as films are striped under stress conditions on the machine.
