Back in the glory days of Super 8 there was little of the ‘Official’ films. Trailers and a behind the scenes film from Derann and a few others. Fast forward to when the German labs started printing and there were a number of pre-credit sequences available on Super 8 with or without titles. Mainly these were the later films and so the early Bond’s got left out. Thankfully this has now been corrected by Dorun Films releasing the absolutely fantastic A View To A Kill opening and full titles with my favourite Bond, Roger Moore.

The reel starts with the MGM lion logo then on to the gunbarrel sequence and then the snow chase filmed in Iceland. I do find it amazing how Bond doesn't drop the microchip as within seconds he is falling but I suppose he is Bond! This is followed by the full opening titles by Maurice Binder in his typical style for the Moore era. Roger pops up several times in animated form. The reel ends with the title card showing ‘James Bond will return.... On Super 8’.

This is an awesome reel. Fantastic picture quality and booming sound, turn the volume up. Colour is also excellent and the snow is pure white. Many will say this was Roger’s worst Bond film (as is true for most Bond’s actors last film). This maybe so but this was Roger’s swansong to 007 and this is an exciting pre-credit sequence and with one of the best Bond songs by Duran Duran together with a brilliant Maurice Binder title sequence. The whole reel is a fantastic watch and very sharp. So great to finally have this on Super 8. Thank you Dorun Films.

This looks great. I enjoyed this film when it came out in 1985. Roger Moore does look a bit too old for the role but I think it is a good entry. The low point of the series for me was Octopussy which was awful. Nice to see new Super 8 prints being released, my only problem is I can’t afford to buy them.

Yes. I think Moore joked about Connery retiring and passing the role on to an OLDER man at the time!!!

I believe he was 57 at the time.

So love this. It was of course all about the great humanitarian Roger Moore. Look at those colours!

I thought Dorun were no longer trading as stated by Lee a couple of weeks ago?

From reading Lee's recent posts in a number of threads, I assume that he has reconsidered which is a good thing.
I've been known to have another think about decisions on occasion. "To change your mind is the best evidence you have one."

Doug, very true. It looks like another great release on Super 8.

Graham , are your screen shots from a HID converted projector? This may account for the emphasis of blue.

                              Hi Paul,

No just a GS800 with the standard 100W Halogen bulb.

                              Graham
