  • Viable frame-by-frame transfer gear?

…other than Wolverine and clones or MovieStuff crap? For some reason, I’m fixated on the frame-by-frame concept, as I perceive it does a better job than real time transfers. My 25 year-old “professional” telecine transfers are just awful and I want a re-do. I would prefer to do it myself because I’m very hesitant to let my precious family films leave my possession. Having said that, I’m open to modernized real time gear if available. I seem to recall reading here that someone is building modified projectors with digital cameras. Probably wishful thinking and/or a bad memory. Anyway, so what’s out there for those of us who don’t mind messing around with computer software etc?

This is more or less the same in principle as in this video, just with different projector mechanism & camera used.

If you already have some basic background knowledge you probably can figure it out how it works almost right away. After tweaking it here and there this setup had been performing flawlessly for years - it simply works!
The only downside is its relatively slow capture speed around just over 2 fps but hey, I'm not in a hurry anyway.😆
