Help Needed: Part of frame overlaying itself (vertical frame offset?)

It would appear that what I said about the projector also applies to the scanner. You are scanning both types of 8 mm films so framing has to be adjusted before digitising

The eyesen is just another label on a Winait scanner (other labels are Wolverine, Kodak, Somikon, reflecta, …).
You have either selected the wrong format (N8 vs. S8) or you have to use the scanners „frame adjustment“ feature. (You can also try to thread the film again. But I would rather guess that it’s one of the other two causes.)

Thank you! The manual that came with mine didn't provide details on frame adjustment. Joerg sent a link to a proper manual. I will report back once I nail down the problem.

Here’s a link to a manual - the devices differ in color, maximum reel size and resolution. Also certain companies have added their logo and additional languages into the firmware (=visible in the menu). Nevertheless the „basics“ are the same for all different models:

Thanks for this! This is indeed what I have, but the "manual" that came with it was fairly usless and didn not describe "Frame ADJ" as per this manual. I'm hoping that is the key.

If your film scanner does not have the option to adjust framing, you are out of luck. Check your user's manual for the option to adjust framing.

The projector should have a framing adjuster to correct this. Also check whether the film is standard or Super 8 and whether ther projector runs both types. Standard 8 has the sprocket holes on the frame line. Super 8 sprocket holes are smaller and half way up the frame. Not all projectors run both types of film.

Hi - newbie to both this forum and 8 mm film. I recently dug out my grandfather's stash of 8 mm films that he took in the early to mid-60's. They all appear to be in good shape, and I am able to run them in the Bell & Howell projector. I am having an issue with some reels however, where the top 1/3 of the frame is cut off and appearing at the bottom. I believe the term is "vertical frame offset"? I am trying to scan these to digital using a digitizer from Amazon made by a company called "Eyesen". Scanning is easy, but the offset is a big turn-off in the final result. Does anyone know the cause? Is there a solution, either prior to scanning, or some sort of software tools that can correct it? I am incliuding a video here as an aexample. Any help is MUCH appreciated!
