      Mattias, thank you, that article says everything I would have tried to explain. I have shot a lot of Super 8 film and without a doubt, there is no fixed resolution for any film format. It's in the lens, the focus, sufficient light, and exposure. If Super 8 is done really well, it definitely needs a 2K scan, at least.
      I would also reiterate that if you want the film grain to be faithfully reproduced on a big screen, it needs a 4K scan.
