Having spent many months viewing these forums and being intrigued by the ingenuity of many with a view to transfer my dads cine from the seventies I have decided to go the route of a professional digital process. Of course I am sure there are many who may poopoo that idea however I have made my mind up. Just wanted to know if anyone could point me in the right direction to find a company . I am sure there are many good outfits but of course there will be the normal not so good ones. Just trying to navigate.

Look for a company that has a Scanstation. Make sure they have 6.5K capability (you won't need to actually scan 8mm AT 6.5K, but the imager on the 6.5K model is far superior to the regular Scanstations). Also make sure they have HDR built into the scanner.
The end result will be better than a Spirit.
