  • Gloves!

Hi everyone, what gloves should I go for when handling film? I tried some cheap cotton gloves from china but they were awful (clumpy fingertips), does anyone have a reliable source for good quality, professional gloves?

Yes . These work well for me when cleaning film . You can usually get them in super markets or Hardware and Walmart stores too .

I only ever knew one collector who religiously used cotton gloves when handling films. If I remember correctly he washed them via washing machine before using them to reduce loose fibres and repeated the process to extend use. Latex gloves will do the same purpose but my hands sweat in them . Ideal for single use for painting or playing with super glue.

We used these at the film lab. https://www.christys.net/product/whi...n-gloves-pair/

When I work with film either cleaning or sound dubbing professionally I wear..
A white laboratory jacket and wear white cotton gloves. Perhaps a bit over the top but we aim for traditional perfection here.
Magicians gloves are made from cotton.
