  • film9: MIA! Anyone have a new download source?

The film9 utility seems to be something I could use to do some badly needed color correction to some of my dad's old Agfachrome films from the 60s. But all the download sources are down as is film9.org itself.

Anyone know of any alternative download sources?

    Thanks!

Today this has been posted by the French deveolpers of Film9:-

The Film9 domain name has already been taken over and this poses a security problem for Film9 users.
They risk being unknowingly redirected to malicious sites, but only if they accept an update.
This is a potential risk that does not occur at this time.

To avoid this, we made a latest version of Film9 (3.2) which no longer queries our website to see if an update is available.
      It can be downloaded here:
      http://web.jclaude.free.fr/Les%20fic...SetupFilm9.exe

Thanks to Jean-Claude for hosting it.

I take this opportunity to remind you that we no longer provide support for this software, including by PM.

Norton would not let me download from the above, blocks it as a security risk. Perhaps better to download from the French website I posted previously.

Downloading a .exe file is always an issue. Not sure why they did it that way. I can download it by copying a link onto a new google chrome tab. Have not tried running it because not sure how safe it is and I already have the film9 installation. The virus check reports no viruses but one never knows. The link that you Keith posted has a French version of the manual. My installation has both English and French. I assume you get the English version once you run the setup file.

All the new version 3.2 seems to do is stop Film9 from accessing the internet to look for a new version, as there will never be one, as the French delevopers are no longer updating this software. A shame, but it is their decision to no longer support it. I guess the setup file allows the language to be selected between French & English.
