Using a Eumig P8 and a JVC Everio with a CCD. All captures appear to have a pulsating light the entire length of the film, showing rapid and rhythmic light-to-dark-to-light again cycle. At the brightest point of each pulse the center is often washed out. The pulsing gets faster as I speed up the projector.
You're doing real-time capturing off-the-screen projection right? More details needed
But the general rule is to set your camcorder in full manual mode. Manual focus/exposure/shutter speed (VERY IMPORTANT)/and white balance as well.
I assume that your camcorder can do only 30p/60p (or 60i) frame rate so set the shutter speed to 1/60s, then adjust the projector's speed until the flicker is least noticeable. The actual speed will be then around 20 fps. Finally adjust the iris accordingly to get satisfactory exposure.
