  • IC Capture 2.5

Is anybody using this program for frame by frame capture or any telecine work?

I use it Patrick. I also have my simpler version of the program.

      Hey Stan!
do you use IC for your final result or do you post process? Trying to find the best settings for post.
      Simpler version? 😮

I use it just to capture the frames. Then I use VirtualDub to postprocess.
You can check the Hawkeye user manual starting at page 66.
        https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KqT...usp=share_link
Will give you an idea how I do postporcessing.
But obviously you can pick your own tool.
daVinci Resolve is a good one or Adobe Premiere.
I created my own capture app
        https://github.com/vintagefilmography/Hawkey-HDR
This is for Hawkeye HDR but it could be easily converted to single exposure as the IC Capture alternative.
It is fully open source so it could be a good alternative if a custom feature is needed.

          Nice! Thanks for the info!
I have a Tobin system. Supposedly it was a prototype. There’s a few extra holes here and there where he was figuring things out. It’s a B&H 10MS.

It’s running with one of these. I don’t know if it’s worth it to upgrade the camera, or if it’s even possible.

I do use VirtualDub in post. Trying to find a good filter to get the noise out. Still learning Dub. Having the filter is one thing. Knowing how to tweak it is another. Spent hours on a 50’ reel seeing what’s possible. Many filters are talked about but hard to find.

Yes VirtualDub takes some time. VideoFred script does a very good job on noise. In my manual after page 66 I do cover VideoFred and how to use it. I suggest to try that and let me know if you have questions. You can message me privately. Other ImagingSource cameras could also work depending on the mounting constraints that you have in the unit.
