Fixed Wolverine annoying digital artifacts completely. Moved the original Wolverine controller by 12 mm to allow for a new ELP camera to be mounted underneath. The new camera uses the same sensor used in Wolverine and it reuses the original Wolverine 6mm lens. The mounting of the new camera is in the same position as the old one so that the original optical characteristics are exactly the same. Since the new camera uses a usb interface connected to a laptop the user can fully control the video quality and digital artifacts are GONE.

Here are a few test clips.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...M0?usp=sharing
The 6mm clips are with the stacked boards and reusing the Wolverine 6mm lens with the ELP camera.
the 12mm clip is with the 12mm Imagingsource lens and the ELP camera. The camera board has to sit higher due to the longer lens focal length. This does not provide enough space for the Wolverine controller on top of the camera so the controller is mounted at the back. Quite honestly I do not see that much difference in image quality between the two but I will let you be the judge.
The stacked board version is cheaper and easier tot rework. Total cost $200 including the used Wolverine.

Although BOUGHT and PAID FOR I’m guessing the current Retro is not in my near future... Very sketchy…Last edited by Dave Bickford; June 11, 2023, 11:12 PM.

Yes definitely it is possible. Ii will have to test it with the Sankyo projector.
I have one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E8OC1OG...roduct_details
I used it for this Wolverine project but replaced the lens with the Wolverine 6mm lens. Did not use the varifocal lens.
But that lens could be used with the Sankyo projector I believe. I tried if the lens fits the existing Sankyo lens holder
and it does just have to remove the outer cylinder from the lens.
Not sure if it will focus properly and if the DOF is OK. The lens does have adjustable aperture but not sure if it is
good enough. I do have all the bits and pieces here so it is just a matter of testing it. Been busy fixing the broken
Wolverines, like 10 of them. Something to support my ongoing experimentations.
Thank you Nantawat for good ideas.

Well that's getting REALLY interesting now. As I'm also using Sankyo projector as the film transport in my setup as well.
I had already sorted out all other issues (optical path/trigger system/etc.) and it had been my tried & trust setup that's been running fine for years. The camera currently used is the mirrorless ones - namely Panasonic G7, which does give excellent result.
But I would need something convenient/fast for a quick & dirty jobs from time to time, while still maintaining decent result. If that camera can be simply swapped in the lens mount and ready to go in seconds instead of 20 - minute setup as pictured here, that would be GREAT.

Used the 12mm lens provided from ELP.
Turned out pretty good. Some flicker present but I have not spent too much time on that.

The lens is a bit soft but not bad. Could try the ImagingSource 12mm lens or Aico
16mm. These are more money.
ImagingSource around $40
Aico $150
The camera cost is around $50 including thee 12mm lens. Had to design the camera mount an that was basically it.
Also want to mention that I did get some garbage capture at the beginning. Not sure what that was but will check it again.
Was OK after that.
