I was at one time experimenting with trying to get a filter to tone down color fade. Unfortunately I only have at my disposal the cyan from a pair of 3-D glasses. It is too dark. I thought for the heck of it to put it over one eye. Obviously this wouldn't be practical for an audience, but I usually don't have one anyway. Oddly enough, the brain seems to do some post-processing and you can see a lot of color balance back. Often you can notice yellows too. You just have to be able to tolerate retinal rivalry. Another by product is the pulfrich effect. Moving crowds and scenes look like they are in 3-D. I don't know what the full usefulness of it might be, but it might be cool to fool around with.
