  • Colorfresh packs ...

I recently purchased a film that has this German made "colorfresh" pack, shiny metal pack, with holes poked in it as dictated by the pack. Interesting. Any info on these things? How do they work? I do know that the film that it came with, is usually a faded mess. This one isn't.

Bonum spools used to have a small silver pack placed in a hole on the side of the plastic case. You were supposed to stick a pin in it I think and some chemicals within would perform film preservation magic...or something!?

Sounds like a similar thing? No idea what was in there...

Later spools just had the hole in the case.

The Old Film Company here in UK I see still selling these spools with the “climate control”.

Is it something like this, Osi?

I wonder if the „colorfresh“ simply contained camphor or camphor oil?!

Or even silica gel to reduce humidity (for a while).

Yep! That's what I was talking about. I wonder exactly if they really did anything concerning color "freshing"?
