What the ... Ebay!?!

For some reason, starting today, when I do a search and bring up titles, if I click on a specific title or auction, it goes to a screen, stating, "switch to the mobile app". When I click on this, it just starts repeating the same page ad nauseam. Is this just a blip with ebay and my phone, or something new being added? All I know is I can't look at or bid on anything!

EBay.de is working as before on my iPhone in both Safari and Opera. So it’s either a new feature in „your“ Ebay-Region (eBay.com?) or in your browser. Is there a „enforce desktop version of this website“-feature in your browser? Please try it. Also check whether there has been an update on your phone (either for the whole system or only for the browser). In any case: Don’t panic! It might also be a glitch that is fixed in a few days.

I'll look for that "enforce desktop feature for your browser" on my phone in the meantime. The strange thing is that I can look at anything on ebay, messages, you name it, but I just can't link to the actual auction page for each auction, which means I can't bid. Fortunately, this is happening when there is nothing that I need to bid on, but that will change before I know it. I'll be on one of the PC's at the library today and I will see if it gives me the same issue today. Note: I have not been given any notifications as to whether I have violated any ebay policy, so it's not that. It's only happening on ebay, I should state.

I have also just checked my own auctions that I have up. As with the auctions that are not mine, when I attempt to look at my own auctions, it states the same aggravating message "switch to mobile version" and won't even let me look at my own auctions! This means that I may not even be able to relist my own auctions! I'll try to see if when I click revise or relist, it'll allow me to do so.

I just went through this myself. It started last Friday afternoon. In the morning I made a purchase and everything went as usual. In the afternoon I could see everything listed in all categories but when I clicked on the item it wouldn’t show the pictures of that item or allow me to bid or buy it now. I also got the message to download the app which my phone wouldn’t do as it’s too old or so I’m told. I never received any message from eBay telling me I was suspended or whatever. I waited 72 hours in case of a possible suspension. Still nothing. I tried contacting eBay but their stupid auto answering device wouldn’t answer my question or allow me access to a semi human. Frustrated I looked further into my options and clicked on Classic Site at the bottom of my homepage and lo and behold I got all access back BUT it’s a pain in the butt as everything is tiny and I have to enlarge every screen. You might want to try that as an option for your issue too.

In Opera, you‘ll have to click onto the „hamburger“ menu, then onto „Desktop“.

In Safari, click onto the „aA“ left of the url (url-field might be at bottom, depending on your settings), then onto „Desktop“.

Such a feature is also available under Android in Firefox, Google Chrome and Samsung Internet.

As of noon today, the problem seems to have been solved, as I now have full access again, but missed out on one auction, unfortunately.
