Hopefully, he'll be more a writer than someone with vast talent. Some truly excellent artists become great session players, but are never able to write a single song to save they're life. I'm on the other side of the coin, I'm an okay drummer, and can "function" on a keyboard, but my greatest strength is writing and lyrics.
