  • Please be aware new PAYPAL SCAM!!!

This morning I have just received two emails from Paypal telling me that a recent transaction has failed and it is necessarily to re-enter my bank details on the link below.
I first went to my bank account and the payment has been made. I then went the seller, and the payment was received and the goods shipped. On my actual Paypal account the transaction went through as normal.
If anyone does received one of these emails, whatever you do Do Not click on it, as it is a Scam.
I have reported this to Paypal.

Thank you for reporting this. It makes your head spin as to just how cunning these scammers are getting these days

I just look at the "from" email address and it's always obvious it's a scam. Plus I know all the emails are scams anyway. When I use Paypal I immediately get a confirmation email anyway.

They send out thousands of these -- perhaps millions, and all it takes is one person to bite and they've had a good day, week, month, or year!

In a similar vein, last year when I was in hospital for a few weeks, I left my mobile with my wife to take any business calls and I had my spare (old) mobile with a PAYG SIM card in and shared the number as "Dave's Burner Phone" with a small handful of close friends/family.
The phone lives in the bedroom now, so any calls to it tend not to be heard. This morning I have blocked 13 unknown numbers. Undoubtedly 100% scams. We all have to be so aware.
Don't even get me started on the scam/cold calls on my business line and main mobile.
Maybe we have a thread on how we deal with such calls. My wife 😍 who is so polite says "No thank you". I on the other hand....🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

EDIT: Just had an email telling me my Netflix account has been blocked...🤔 I haven't got one😁

While on the subject of phone scams . I recently got calls from unknown numbers claiming that a payment of £ 95.00 was about to be paid into my Amazon subscription account ... which i do not have . Also that it was my Bank with a cash security alert on my account . Another one was that i may lose my Internet connection if i do not respond soon to a certain phone number .

I guess you responded, else without Internet access you wouldn't have been able to make this post!

Brian i certainly did not respond to that phone scam and i still have my internet access . I wonder how much people did respond to those false phone calls and emails from organised criminal gangs and had either their computers hacked or maybe even had their bank account emptied or both . You have to very vigilant these days in my experience both on and offline .

One my better half experienced lately...

A call from someone purporting to be Amazon. They said someone had hacked her account and had several expensive transactions in the trolley waiting to be charged.

The clever part; they HAD hacked her account and put several items worth around £1000.00 into the basket. Also, they had changed the account name and delivery address.

But as part of accessing her account, they obviously now have her phone number. Now the scam begins...we need you take immediate action...we need bank account details to stop the transactions and report this hacking...

Seeing that the account had indeed been hacked would be enough to scare a lot of people into mild panic, which of course is what they want.

She put the phone down, changed her Amazon password, got in touch with the real Amazon people who put everything back in order...for now!

I know; I was being facetious.
