  • Bolex in the last years

    Hi!

Here‘s an interesting article about Bolex and the last remaining persons working there:
    https://www.srf.ch/wissen/technik/te...hweizer-mythos
(The article is from 2015 and states that the only technician could have been a pensioner since 2014.)

In 2018, during a film festival in Neuchâtel, some film fans visited the factory and the large storage of spare parts.

In 2019, Bolex had a new boss (and also most likely a new owner):

In 2021, Bolex posted images of their spare parts on their Instagram channel.

Since approximately 2022, Bolex has a completely new website - without any price lists and without any postal address, email-address or phone number. Not to mention that nearly all texts are now in present perfect or past perfect.

Didn't read it, yet, but it is a shame that Bolex bailed after the excellent 18-5 series, and started outsourcing their sound machines in Super 8. (Not sure how long they continued to make 16mm.) Still doesn't make sense to me that Bolexes were really Eumigs in disguise. (And a not-very-good disguise at that!) And Silmas. Perhaps others. Totally different than Sears having B&H make machines for them. That OEM model, so to speak.
