That wonderful comedic actress, also great in dramas, has passed on. A lot of great memories from great films, Young Frankenstein, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Mr. Mom to name a few ... "Put, the Candle ... Beck!" R.I.P. 😔

She was a perpetual favorite of mine!
-kind of the "girl next door" that unfortunately never showed up where I grew up!
Her being gone now makes me feel a little...old.
Here's a sad thought: among the five principal actors in Young Frankenstein: all gone!
What's great in our time, is their work lives on and we can enjoy it whenever we want to.

I hadn't heard about this. 79 - wow, I do feel old now.
My Apple news feed on my phone leaves something to be desired.
Many films take years to get the reputation they deserve. Many films are a big hit at first, then 50 years later, no ones watches them. YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN was an immediate hit whose reputation has remained steady for 50 years. Not many movies can claim that!

... and of course, she was the "mom next door" in Close Encounters, dealing with the bizzare situation the best that she could. The first thing I ever saw her in was "The TAMI Show", a black and white concert film with the Beach Boys and many others. She was a go go dancer! First acting job I saw her in was an episode of Star Trek, in which she was a fairly ditzy secretary.
