  • MASH Chronology error

I am a big fan of MASH always have been always will be. I have recently obtained the full set on dvd. In series 11. The last series the episode ‘The Moon is Not Blue’ the story revolves around Hawkeye and BJ trying to obtain a copy of the film for the 4077 Mash. It is banned in Boston to sexual scenes and dialogue, however, Charles Emerson Winchester 111 who is from Boston states that Boston would ban Pinocchio.

Anyway, they go and visit the film services department and try to obtain it directly. Please watch it if you can.

Anyway the Korean War ended in 1953, yet just to the left of the man responsible for distribution of film for the army in Korea is a picture of John Wayne who is definitely in a picture from a western movie from the late 1960’s to early 1970’s. It could be War Wagon, The Undefeated or Rio Lobo.

it’s funny what you notice when you are a film buff.

Continuity errors are interesting to discover, and annoying when obvious.

As you noted Phil the war ended in 1953. There are a few episodes that have the characters refer to Godzilla which didn’t make any appearance until 1954 in Japan and 1956 in the USA.
Despite these obvious flubs the show is still a wonderful bit of entertainment.

And still being shown on TV in the UK, on a minor channel.
