And a Happy New Year to you, too, Edward. As we speak, you are in a different year to us. Just watched the Sydney celebrations this afternoon on the BBC News channel.

    Happy New Year everyone!

Hope it is another "super" one !

New Years Eve: Live From the Apocalypse!

          (-a true story!)

So, about 50 minutes ago, we were standing in our friends' den with about 15 other people watching New Years' Eve live from Times Square.

We got up to the Moment of Truth:

          TEN!
          NINE!
          EIGHT!
          SEVEN!
          SIX!
          FIVE!
          FOUR!
          THREE!
          TWO!
          ONE!!!!

          BLIP!
          -the screen went dark!
          -The audio went silent!

We all stood there for about 30 seconds in stunned silence. A few of us wondered if Y2K had finally come off 25 years later!
-but the room lights were still on, and there was no wail of sirens out in the streets.

So the moral of the story is this: If you have the sleep timer set for midnight on your flat-screen TV, think about maybe defeating that feature before your New Years' Eve Party?!
