Another Exciting EBay Enhancement for All

After giving no fees for selling for a few months EBay in their wisdom and generosity have decided to change the system yet again. This applies to private sales and buying

From 4 February 2025

In Summary

Sellers who sell an item will not get paid until delivery is confirmed. They recommend using a tracking service and are promoting something called “Simple Delivery “ no doubt operated and run by Ebay.

Buyers don’t worry they have thought of you too. They will be adding a 4% Buyer Protection charge to each purchase. Apparently it will be added on automatically and will be seamless.

This brings them into line with other online sellers like Vinted etc.

So Buyers will be paying more and Sellers will have their sales monies resting in ebay’s bank account Lets hope they get a good interest rate.

Ooooorg! "Easy stomach ... don't turn over now ... easy does it!" ( Quote from Daffy). Not surprising. Though I can see a little of the reasoning. I would prefer that the seller merely supplies the tracking number, and this authenticates that the item is on it's way, but that's not absolutely true. Some sellers will "provide" a tracking number, but this doesn't mean that they have actually put it in the post yet and, at times, it can be days later before the film is actually in the post!
