After Roger Moore I lost interest in the whole James Bond thing, anyway I think this is one of my favorite scenes with Clifton James as Sheriff J.W. Pepper the theme music of "Live and Let Die" was also brilliant. It used to be fun going to the cinema to see films like this, with great locations, heaps of stunts, and the like. .

Well folks its a nice summer morning at the moment, nothing to do with James Bond but just thought I would mention it, this opening by Scottish lass Sheena Easton from "For Your Eyes Only" is at the top of my list, must get out the old 45 later today. I never get tired watching this one I feel that any new James Bond film from Amazon will be a flop, its all old hat now time has moved on, but its great to step back in time with a blu-ray screening every so often

Simply, apersonal view

The first 3 Connery movies were classics. After that they started to dip. The Lazenby OHMSS is one the best in structure. Diamonds was made for the money. Live and let Die was a fresh approach but after that James Bond became Roger Moore/ The Saint. Comedy show.

Ironically , View to Kill was much better than the rest but Roger looked too old. The Dalton movies were the template for the Craig series. Licence to Kill being the closest to a true Bond movie. Brosnan was a mix of Connery and Moore Goldeneye was a standout and you could see time and money was spent on it. The rest were churned out with diminishing returns. Try watching them on DVD and you will understand.

The copyright issues and MGM bankruptcy meant Brosnan was pushed out. The Daniel Craig movies I wasn’t fussed on Casino Royale, Quantum I actually thought was an improvement. The rest of the series was a Spectre reboot which whilst done well was a rehash of 1960s. Time to Kill was the final nail in the coffin. The character James Bond was killed.

Forgot to mention the worst. Casino Royale 1967 constantly on tv broadcast was an absolute mess. Never Say Never again made for money and spite and totally unwatchable either on super 8 or DVD.

In regard to Amazon you will see a Bond reboot hoping to catch a new audience . There will also be franchise movies M ,Blofeld, Goldfinger , Q, Moneypenny and others churned out like sausages.

Instead of average time of 3 years between movies every year will be a Bond experience. Will they be successful more than likely the merchandise will draw in the money. Will they be any good or bear any resemblance to the series to date. Doubt it but who knows.

You know his name. You got his number. Since 1962, James Bond has been the spy whose reputation precedes him: As international man of mystery, as guru of gadgets and espionage thrills, and as the agent who never encountered a boundary – country, or personal space – he couldn’t sneak across.
The Ian Fleming adaptations started with a bang: Dr. No remains among the best-reviewed of 007’s movies, bringing forth that first legendary era of Sean Connery suited up as the debonair rogue that women crave and men aspire to be in vain. Case in point: 1967’s Casino Royale had no less than six James Bonds within its spooferifous walls, none holding a candle to the Con’. The non-comic caper is the worst-reviewed James Bond movie, and was produced outside of franchise gatekeepers Eon.

As celebrated was Connery’s reign was – the late actor’s films occupy three of the top five slots on this list – the sun sets on every empire, and thus was ushered in the age of the Lazenby. A mild administration for George, yes, with only 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service released, though Certified Fresh.

Then it became time to move over for Roger Moore, who offered a lightly winking and intelligent Bond for those burned-out ’70s times. Three of his movies are Rotten, three are Fresh, and one is Certified Fresh. Not bad, and he even traveled into space.

In 1981, Connery came back for non-Eon Bond Never Say Never Again, just as HQ was hiring Timothy Dalton for the job. Dalton’s Bond: Cool and menacing, and his films The Living Daylights and License to Kill are praised by modern fans for their dark, grittier take on the spy game. It’s something Daniel Craig would pick up on in the future, but with a bigger budget and fewer a-ha theme songs.

Pierce Brosnan brought back the sophisticated sex appeal, as the best Bond in the not-so-greatest movies. GoldenEye was intoxicating Certified Fresh fun, while the three that followed are all Rotten.

After Austin Powers took the piss out of the franchise for a decade, Eon turned to resurrecting James Bond as the brooding, brutish hulk we have today. Casino Royale was a return to form, Daniel Craig’s sneer and occasional smile calibrated to the modern cynical viewer. Skyfall was likewise Certified Fresh, but there was not so much critical love for in-betweener Quantum of Solace and the most-recent Spectre of 2015.

Six years passed until No Time To Die, the longest wait between Bond movies. At 15 years, Craig holds the record for longest uninterrupted on-screen ownership of Bond, but Connery spread his appearances as Bond across 21 years. Now, we’re reaching into the classified files for every James Bond movie ever ranked by Tomatometer!

I must say, I preferred Daniel Craig, right behind Connery, then Moore. Gci/AI Connery? It's possible, but it would be incredibly expensive to pull off. I much as I hate to say it, even though I'd like to see another Connery Bond film, Connery is really a "my generation" Bond, young people probably don't even know who Sean Connery was

That more or less sums it up. They are already out of the gates. Henry Cavill as next James Bond. And Moneypenny Chronicles as a spin off series of films.

Doubt there will be any Pussy Galore or Dr Goodhead films. 😔

I treat "A View to a Kill" as similar to "Never Say Never Again", except this time it is based on "Goldfinger", not "Thunderball".

Vilain wants a monopoly on something and tries to use explosion to get it, gang member who wants out on the deal is murdered, horse racing stables in it, cast member of UK TV series "The Avengers" has a part, vilains girl changes sides and helps Bond.

Sure the storylines are virtually identical in all the movies. Compulsory Car Chase, The baddies fire numerous bullets at him but always miss.His bullets hit their target at every shot and he never reloads. He gets a beating that would kill anyone instantly. The 1st girl he meets has sex with dies the 2nd girl he meets is with him at the end and has wonderful sex. “Oh James” is usually exclaimed. The villain never kills him at any opportunity. He tells him his whole master plan in detail. Bond is placed against a big red button in some industrial complex or base that when pressed blows up the whole place up.

Maybe Amazon will improve it!

Yes , Goldfinger countdown was scripted to be 003 but Harry Saltzman the producer got it changed to 007 and they never changed the formula after that. Plus all the special gadgets from Q branch get mangled or destroyed in the mission.
