I have had some animation strips printed in a book for some time and finally got the bug to make a zoetrope. I made it a 24 frame model. I'm fortunate to have access to make free use of a copier. I have printed strips found off the internet and made copies of several Muybridge studies. Then I started drawing my own strip sequences. I have previously made a few 100' rolls of hand drawn animation on 16mm. It takes quite awhile to complete, but once I see them, I think, Wow, what a waste of time ! But I don't care. I can't help being fascinated that it's so direct and simple & that it works at all. The images are moving right before your eyes. I have a lack of showing them off to interested parties. I kind of wish I could go to Cinesea one day. Maybe it would find some interest there ?

Hi Tim,
My feeling is if you set a Zoetrope out on the table at CineSea, it would quickly gather a crowd! As a bunch, we are both into the films and the ways that they get up on screen.
I've always wanted to do a hand-drawn cartoon and film it onto Super-8 with single frame capture, but life is way too complicated to let me have me the time that a project like that really deserves.Last edited by Steve Klare; March 07, 2025, 03:48 PM.
