  • Pictures size.

My phone usually takes pictures with about 3 or even about 4 capacity measure. The forum limitation is 2. The only way I found was to reduce the size, loosing a (often too) significant part of the photo, which is time consuming. Does anyone know an easy way to reduce the quality of the existing photos on the phone (without having to transfert them, I mean) ?

    Hi Dominique,

I have to give you a lot of credit here: until I saw your thread, I had no idea it was even possible to upload a picture here from a phone! (It IS!).

I tried it on my own iPhone SE and saw no way to reduce the file size on pictures still on the phone. (Sorry!)

I've had the same trouble with file size when I've downloaded pictures for forum posts through a USB cable. How I get around this is sending them to my E-mail address from the phone. When I am ready to send the e-mail, the phone asks me to select a file size and I pick something a lot less than the original.

I maintain a folder on all the computers I work on called "throwaway" with the intent of putting files that are of no long-term use while I work with them. It's a great theory, except I lack the self-discipline to delete the files when I am finished and not so much later it becomes this Museum of Random Nonsense! (This folder on my work computer is 16 years old: It's immense!)

These folders are also a parade of forum pictures I've uploaded for years now.

      Dominique & Steve,

On my iPhone, I use the free app Image Size. It quickly allows you to reduce the photo's width & height (in proportion) to make a much smaller file size without cropping. The downside is the free version has ads that pop up often. My pixel setting for pictures is 4032 x 3024. By changing the width to 1500, I can reduce the file size to more than half.

I believe Image Size is also available for Android phones. There is also the free app Pixir.

Hi! I’m using „Desqueeze“ on my iPhone.
