[HELP] What is the generic name of this Vinyl/LP/record plastic sleeve?

Hi all,

I knew this is a film forum but many of us are also collecting vinyls (LP/records). So I better ask here.

I am looking for record plastic sleeve, but there are two variation look, the foggy (milky) one and the clear transparent one. I like the first one.

But upon searching on the marketplaces (Temu, Ebay, etc) to describe it they used the word crystal clear or transparent clear which make me confused because it might be not what I am after. Asking this cheap stuff on Ebay does not get response from the seller, while Temu does not allow us to communicate with the seller (strange!).

So guys what do you think the keyword for this type of plastic sleeve. How do you say that in English?

You are right, we can search it with keyword "LP plastic sleeve" or "Vinyl sleeve". But I am not looking the generic name for it but rather the type of plastic i.e foggy one vs crystal clear (as shown in the above picture).

I am searching with my own mind using "foggy" as the keyword of course did not give any result, so since I am not a native English speaker perhaps there is a particular name for it so I can search more easily.

Picture #1 looks like it is in a plastic sleeve, which are naturally cloudy.

Picture #2 is in a PVC sleeve which is a higher quality sleeve, slightly more expensive I think, and are usually clear or one can ask for tinted which may be a slight shade of orange..... a bit like a film that is starting to lose its colour.

I personally use the PVC sleeves. Personal preference. They are slightly thicker and robust. The only problem is that they can be a bit of a tight fit, so it is not a good idea to use these for double Lp's although the plastic ones are a bit looser and are okay. I buy mine on Ebay UK from a supplier called Soundswholesale which I can recommend.

Incidentally, you HAVE come to the right place for the advice even though this is a film forum. The other two major hobbies of our colleagues are either vinyl collecting........ or anything to do with Steam Trains!

Don't forget.... this section is for "yakking about non-film subjects."

(I'm wondering whether to start asking questions about ponds and Carp / Koi fish)!!!!!

If the jackets are new and fresh, they indeed nice to be sleeved with PVC crystal clear. But with many ring wears or faded covers, that foggy/cloudy sleeves will hide those flaws.

BTW, I also a train modeller (HO/OO scale).. so I capture all hobbies.. . 😁

I have contacted them, they give me several links. I *think* I got the generic name for this type of plastic material, i.e polythene (or polyethylene).
