After listening to the audio commentary on this movie blu-ray last night, I came across this interview by him about filmmaking in general and his time making this one. I thought this interview was very good, so thought I would try to link it here, so for anyone interested in the process. I hope this link works as its a well worth read.

Well my granddaughter coming up to 20 yrs old and I watched the movie. I asked afterwards what did you think? Ella replied some of it was a bit disturbing, but gave it a 7 out of 10, which is about right. Full marks to the two main actors and the director who was careful in the way of the subject matter. It did finish with a happy ending but what a journey in getting there. Sadly I read the kid in the film who was only 14 years old at the time of filming died back in 2023 due to a aggressive brain tumor. Anyway that was our movie for this week, sometimes you have to move out of our comfort zone this film was certainly was one of them, it certainly makes you think that's for sure and that's not a bad thing.
