  • Abnormal hot summer

    Monday 1230 pm July 28

101 degrees inside shade under the patio

    108 out in driveway
    Next to my truck!

    not including humidity

trying to get a thread going so if you don't mind based on where you are, please comment if your summer has been hotter than average or is it just the same

I don't think its hotter than average here in Orlando this summer Chip, but I will say the last few days have been a real bummer. What we are missing right now are the regular afternoon thunder storms which keep temperatures in check. Just stay inside until Thursday and keep your A/C running. Remember if it comes down to keeping yourself cool, or your films cool, the films take priority! Human beings do not get vinegar syndrome!

Thankfully, in the UK, the really hot spell has passed it was 34C plus (outdoors) on some days I was helping iat a beer festival in a Big Top style tent with beer coolers taking the heat out of the beer and blwing it out onto the volunteers serving. The cold water, distributed round the site in blue pplastic pipes, was hot enough for washing!!!!

We are on the very outskirts of that heat done in Oklahoma here, and while it's 108 on the eastern side of the state, on the western side, where we are, it's 97, so we count ourselves lucky. Hope it lifts for you soon, Chip. The main prayer in these circumstances, is the hope that power grid doesn't fail, as all those folks that need that central air, will be in trouble

As Brian has stated it has reached 34C down here despite a breeze from the North Sea. Also unprecedented quantities of rain immediately following the heat waves.

In Germany, we've had really hot days at the end of May - beginning of June. Right now, it's more rainy and depressing, as usual in Germany. But as a German I'm used to it. Nothing much we can do.

However, in general I'm afraid from these sudden shifts in temperature...

Well today July 29th our heat index (including humidity) made it to 112F degrees. I have no regrets having moved here. :-)

Chip, will you please come up and take your humidity back to Florida I'm in Minnesota and we've had storms after storms and still doesn't cool down our heat index has been at or over 100 nothing like drinking the air instead of breathing it, not to mention when we dont have humidity we get the smoke from Canada if I had to choose thanks for the humidity at least I can sit inside and watch some films.

Actually, it been a lovely summer stopped raining for once since about April Think we got up to 28C which was too warm but now it been bearable 21-24 C most of the time. We get more humidity here because the sun has to dry up 3000 years of rain. Think Mississippi or Louisiana without the air conditioning.

Global warming bring it on for once we are on a winner. Way back to staring at that big bright thing ☀️ in the sky wearing an duffle coat.

Not so much fun with the resulting wild fires Mike. Many being started by careless and senseless idiots who leave their rubbish from picnics etc. for someone else to clear up.

I know Ken most of those accidental fires are arson or poor land management We were lucky this year heavy rain came at right time so fires were avoided.

It's been a very wet and humid summer here in Kentucky! I tend to always been freezing but it's been very rough.

For the next three or more days, we are enjoying mid 80's. After that, we'll be back to the mid to high 90's, but we're already in August, so the super high temps are weeks away from ending their reign, and it couldn't come too quickly for myself.

                              Hi everyone

well, if you wanna cool down, come to San Francisco where it’s been very cold and super super windy. The reports are that is the coldest summer we’ve had since 1965. I guess you guys are all taking all the heat from The Bay Area. Ha

                              Stay cool
