Well, I for one have been waiting over a DECADE for this unexpurgated Blu Ray release, and now the wait is almost over!

No cuts, No cuts… you got it, NO CUTS and the very clever inclusion of featurettes to explain those original (now regarded as ‘Unwoke’) character treatments… a very clever move there by WB in order to stop the ‘noise’ from those of an over sensitive disposition 🙄.

With this amazing news 🎄 Christmas has certainly come way, way too early this year, but I’m not complaining.

    Best,
    Rick

Well, honestly, I'll wait and see if they are REALLY uncut! Didn't we hear for years about uncut Fantasia from Disney, and we've yet to see a real uncut Fantasia (and probably never will). Will we see Jerry in blackface and saying "hurry up honey chile!"or the robinson Caruso themed Tom and Jerry cartoon.

What the „wokees“ never understood is that the cartoon’s basic concept is racist: The main character with pale skin is permanently trying to kill the other main character that has a brownish skin…

…or is it „fur“ in this case (instead of „skin“)?

I just be glad not to have to listen to the "These cartoons were of their time" etc intro the UK DVDs have.

It is good news that they are finally being released uncut and complete 1940-1958 I don’t really regard the ones after them as Tom& Jerry.

It will be interesting to see what they have done with them. The DVDs were fine but no work had been done on them.

The previous Volume 1 Blu Ray release they were cleaned up to the extreme it was like watching Nickelodeon Sponge Bob and Square Pants you had to turn the brightness down to watch the Blu Ray.

Sure it will be a good price £150 or more as it is the equivalent of the previous 5 DVD releases.

What next Warner Bros censored cartoons?

Meanwhile the Laurel & Hardy Blu Ray releases progress like a “snail” 🐌 in a hurry 1929 was the last release with talk of all the Hal Roach features on next Blu Ray. Least it will be easy to access.

That really annoyed me in the "Golden Age of Looney Tunes" , volume 3, on DVD, where we had to be lectured, at the beginning of each reel, for around five minutes, on how wrong these cartoons were and are by Whoopi Goldberg!

I purchased 4 of the volumes of the 2003 set of Tom and Jerry cartoons on dvd. They were re mastered and appear to be uncut. They contain the first 102 cartoons in 2 packages of 2 double sided discs. Like many others I did not bother with the 3d package containing the later releases. I also have a set of Looney Tunes on vhs as well as some Walter Lantz woody Woodpecker etc. cartoons on another vhs. They are all still very watchable quality wise displayed on a 6ft wide screen via my Epson and at my age why bother replacing them with 4k Blu-ray. 😊 My personal favourite cartoon shorts are 1. Disney, 2 Tom and Jerry, 3.Bugs Bunny, 4. woody Woodpecker. Favourite modern animations are the Ardman Creature Comforts & Wallace and Grommet. Then of course there is Paddington. Will I ever grow up!!

This release has prompted me to rewatch my Super 8 copies of "His Mouse Friday" and "Casanove Cat" to check exactly what may have been vensored in other home video released, tape or disc.

Whilst on the subject of Tom & Jerry, there was one cartoon produced in the 50's in 3D. Does any one know what the title was, as it is not mentioned in any of the cartoon release lists.

Back in 2001 the BFI for one week screened Kiss me kate in 3d. And this was the first time it had been shown in the U.K. in 3d. Accompanying The film was this Tom & Jerry in 3d.
I know I am not imagining it, as I was more impressed with the cartoon over the feature, especially the opening MGM title sequence. As this literally hit you in the face and was such a wonderful thing to see.
If anyone does know please let me know.

                            Hi Steve,

There are no 3D Tom and Jerry titles from the 50’s, if only there were!

Being Warner Bros. “KISS ME KATE” 3D was supported by Bugs Bunny in “LUMBER-JACK RABBIT” 3D, it’s also highlighted on this original BFI quad poster from early 2001.

                            Best,
                            Rick

                              Thank you Ricky.
I feel a right twat. I could have sworn that it was Tom & Jerry. What is more bizarre is that I have that quad poster that I purchased from the BFI. I looked at it before writing this to see if there was any clues, and my poster is blank in this area.
Maybe it was added to the programe as a after thought.
What ever it was, it was amazing to see, especially being projected on twin synchronized projectors.
