Following the good news announced by Paul, I'm pleased to say that the Blackpool Dinner is in preparation. I expect most people will seek reassurance regarding social distancing, so I've consulted Kerry Eastwood at The Grand, who says "We are currently awaiting government guidelines". Therefore, I can't be specific yet, but she acknowledged that there will be a reduced number on each table, and hopefully a larger room can be provided, that would enable us to avoid a substantial cut to the overall number.
You're welcome to provisionally book places when you wish - and it would be good to know that we can expect a good number - but I won't request confirmation (and payment from those not staying at The Grand) until a month before the event. All the details should be clear by then, but I'll provide updates whenever possible. Not accepting payment now will save any need for refunds, if unfortunately there's a lockdown nearer to the time.
Good news: The cost of the three-course dinner (plus film show, quiz and raffle) is still £23, as last year, and due to so many raffle tickets being sold last year, we have enough funds to eliminate the £3 contribution from Grand residents towards the room hire. If you stay at The Grand and your terms include dinner, you can attend at no extra cost, but you MUST tell me that you wish to attend the Collectors' dinner, as otherwise I won't know! You can send me a message via the Forum, or tel: 020 8656 0168.
