  • Spring Is In The Air

Well its the first week of the school holidays and the weather has been great, our street has been a buzz, for all kind of events, which is great to see. Apart from watching the odd movie we have been out and about, in particular a trip down to Timaru to pay a surprise visit to good friends that I once lived with way back in 1973-74. anyway hope all is well with everyone else.

PS. Just blew up my tyres, time for another "huff and puff" round the plantation. This is what it looks like from last year

      Hi Graham,

We are in about the same shape as you, but on the downwards slope to ice and snow!

The boardwalk at Wildwood is a nice ride, so I bought my road bike down to CineSea. Yesterday morning I woke up maybe 7 O'clock and I asked myself "Do I really want to leave this comfortable bed and ride 5 miles before breakfast?" and I answered "Will I really feel foolish driving 400 miles with a bike on my roof and not riding it an inch?"

      -so I went!

I got up to the northern end and prepared to turn back towards the hotel. I felt a certain satisfaction getting up there until I noticed the good City of Wildwood had extended the bike path further north and I didn't have time! (-Dammit!)

Its a great way to get around, years ago when I worked for Ansett Airlines I used to bike the 11 kilometers out to the hanger at the airport. Our start time was 7.30 am so used to leave early on the bike. What I found was I would get there early feeling "with it" and all ready to go, while the others arriving by car, looked like they were just waking up Getting on the old sweat wheel and doing it a couple of times a week was great, it gets the the ole oxygen flowing
