William Travilla (1920-1990) was a costume designer for cinema, theatre and television. He was perhaps best known for designing costumes for Marilyn Monroe in eight of her films.
Travilla (his professional name) and Marilyn remained friends almost to the end of her life and in the book "Dressing Marilyn" it is said that he revealingly commented that if she had died by her own hand she would have made a show of it - looking stunning in one if the negligees he made for her, all satin and ostrich feathers.
It makes you think.
