    THE MAN WITH A CAMERA

As a fan of non-verbal art films, such as Koyannisqatsi, Baraka, & Chronos among others in those series, this movie from 1929 is NOT to be missed.

A silent picture with a musical score, I was mesmerized, and my eyes & ears were held hostage at the cinema for the mere 68 minutes of screen time. This is filmmaking at its superb greatness. It’s one of those movies when the theater goes dark – the popcorn finds its way to your mouth on its own.

    The following text from IMDB.com:

    Begin text:

This playful film is at once a documentary of a day in the life of the Soviet Union, a documentary of the filming of said documentary, and a depiction of an audience watching the film. Even the editing of the film is documented. We often see the cameraman who is purportedly making the film, but we rarely, if ever, see any of the footage he seems to be in the act of shooting!
