I read in a British add (for a film) : "SOUND IS A BIT POPPY AND QUIET IN PLACES, COULD BE LOUDER" I assume "poppy" means something negative, probably "low" or "weak" but in all the online dictionneries I checked in, "poppy" is a flower or a plant. I also found the Poppy Day, but nothing related with sound. Who could enlight me ?

Pop...verb...To make a light explosive sound
Pop... noun...A light explosive sound
On a 16mm optical sound film a pop could be caused by spots on the sound track, or light small scratches.
Also, 16mm projectionists check the sound by flicking a card in front of the exciter lamp beam thus producing a plop, or plops.
