It used to be that during the school holiday break, like the summer one we have at the moment, the grandkids would come for a visit and we would put on a film. Now its PS4 and the VP, I went from this with my we ST1200, to this the next night. I was asked do you have wi-fi etc, watching Conner plugging all the leads in, going through the motions of setting it up, made me realize that I am well out of touch. I must admit, that same day we did go to the mall and I asked him what games were there?, a flight simulator or racing cars so he took me to EB Games, and we had a look around.

The times have changed, no longer its going to the movies during the school holidays, but this stuff instead

PS. I did notice "Reading Cinemas" were hiring out, for up to I think twelve people, you bring your games along and they will project it onto the screen, plus sound of coarse. The price of hire for two hours worth was not bad, a great idea I thought for a special occasion.

That looks like a good agfa print, or l.p.p. I own the Marketing Films 1x400 and 1x200 on agfa. As beautiful as the day it was printed. I'm only 55, and I already feel like the dinosaur.

I will have to have a look to see if its Agfa, Regarding being a bit of a dinosaur myself, on the TV news yesterday evening after all the main depressing stuff of the shocking riots, and out of control virus around the world, was the news of new LPs sales here in NZ overtaking CDs, and that in my view, was good news for this old dinosaur. . I was surprised it was mentioned at all, good for sales though

While this is interesting for those who like analog audio, it is truly scary for the future of physical media. I doubt the sales of LPs has significantly increased, but rather the sales of CDs have decreased to the point of it becoming a niche format that will soon be uneconomical produce.

Yes, the thing today is the straight digital download. However, it is so easy for a person to just copy your material and not even pay for it. As an artist, (and there are others on this forum) I have really limited my release of YouTube videos, just limiting it to Christmas family videos. I have had some, even some friends who have the audacity to actually ask when my new music is coming out, and I know dang well that they have not actually bought my songs, as my digital sales confirm, with reputable organizations. The good old L.P
Really didn't allow, beyond audio cassette, of making copies. Selling they're music is how artists feed they're families. There is a reason why the record companies did they're best to keep great audio technology out of the hands of your average Joe.

And Sony Minidiscs had copy protection so that they could only be copied one generation from the original to another Minidisc after that you could only copy with an analogue intermediate step. They originally called it "solocopy2 but changed the name as it implied that it was OK for anyone to do it not just the originator.

Mitchell that's a good point, I had forgotten that many just download there music of the internet these days. I have enjoyed buying new LPs like the Simon and Garfunkel ones shown here. Other new LPs such as soundtrack to "Bladerunner" is outstanding to listen to compared to a CD of the same title. Years ago I did consider LPs as a dead duck, but now, my view on that has changed.

What also has changed is my hearing, not a patch to what it used to be, and find CDs harsh to listen to, LPs or 45s seem so much better to my ears these days

And recording TOP OF THE POPS BBC TV on my new early 70's cassette recorder endlessly after upgrading from the 8 Track. Then got given a reel to reel making up my own mixes. Good times.
