Massive sale of Film and Projectors in Macclesfield Cheshire

Just to notify all members both here and overseas that Adam Partridge Auctioneers in Macclesfield tel 01625 431788 will be holding a two day auction on the 21st January ,of assorted items ,sporting , militia etc most importantly the whole film and equipment collection of the late Trevor Thomas. He was a good friend of mine and amassed a huge collection of st8, super8, 9.5 and 16mm films and projectors. I can assure members that he was fastidious with his hobby, and equipment and films were all kept in tip top condition and full,working order.I can add that Trevor was most interested in shorts, docs etc and not a feature film collector, 9.5 silents were a particular passion of his.
This is a wonderful oppurtunity for members to add to their collection. Good luck and happy bidding!

John - Thanks for the tip, I've just taken a look and I see what you mean in relation to a "huge collection"! Anyone who collects 9.5 may be at an advantage, because by mixing up 9.5 and 16mm in quite a few of the lots, I think the auctioneers may have underestimated the proportion of people who don't collect both.

I'm intrigued that there are a few 16mm cans that seem to contain one reel WDHM releases such as 'Peter Pan meets Captain Hook', which of course were not released on 16mm.

Hi Nick ,congrats on your purchases, as I said in my original post Trevor kept his machines in perfect order, almost obsessive , I am sure you will be more than delighted with them. Most importantly he will be looking down on you ,knowing they have gone to a good home.

The films seem to have gone for well over the estimates. I wonder if these were bought by collectors or if they will turn up on Ebay soon.
