  • My visit to Michael Lattavo's Home Theater

I recently had the privilege to visit Mike Lattavo's Home theater and I'd like to share some photos from it .

Bill Phelps III was also in attendance and he rated it " The BEST theater in Canton " !!

Amazing set up by Mike, truly a cinema! That's what's great about this hobby, it can accomodate everything from a simple screen room concept to something as elaborate this. And they are all great!

YES Paul , I totally agree with you , as my " Theater " is no more than a projector stand and projector ( that can be switched from 8mm to 16mm ) along with an 8 foot X 5 foot SCOPE screen .

      But , here's MORE of Mike's THEATER -

Inside Mike's projection booth we see his Century 35mm projector with " mutt " next to it .
off in the left corner we see his other projectors , for 16mm and 8mm , that he wheels over and projects in front of the 35mm projector .

So it was a really good day , viewing just all sorts of 16mm film and 35mm film .
In fact , Mike stated since we watched films for 8 hours , it was a mini - CINESEA !!

We went out to Indiana to visit our son at college during Easter week. We overnighted in Youngstown last night: what? -30 miles away from Canton?

-and to think I watched television last night!
          .

I hoped for at least an old issue of "The Reel Image" at the rest stop: no luck!

I'm only 20 minutes away from Michael's and it was a real pleasure hanging out at his place with Dave for the day checking out his home cinema. It is the best theatre in Canton! He's done a fantastic job (still has some finishing touches to do) I had collected some 35mm trailers and he spooled them up on a 2000' reel for me. He screened that for us and it was awesome! We also watched tons of 16mm. I am looking forward to more screenings at this great home cinema!

Thanks for posting the pics Dave.

Blimey thats amazing. I pop my projector 8 or 16mm on the sideboard and watch it on the chimney Brest !!! using the built in speaker.

A little down on this gentlemens wonderful cinema.

              Best Mark.

Great pictures David of Michael's superb theatre 😊

A set-up like that can make us all dream of the day we win the lottery - and then the sky is the limit!

Thanks , Bill and Ali - I had seen mike's Area BEFORE all the work had been done to make it what it is now and I was truly amazed when I first walked through the sliding door entrance and feasted my eyes on what had been done .

oh- and while I was in Ohio , Mike and I visited Steve Osborne and watched my 16mm cuts of " GODZILLA , KING OF THE MONSTERS " , " FRANKENSTEIN CONQUERS THE WORLD " and " THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN " .
